Because of the limitless benefits of their profession, CAD Designers may find work in many exciting fields including construction and engineering. They use specialized computer software to generate drawings, blueprints, plans, and other design documents for use across a wide variety of fields (mechanical design, architecture, construction, engineering, etc.).

Training
Training in Computer-Aided Design & Drafting is available locally at Linn-Benton Community College. Computer-Aided Drafting workstations are used in all courses. Current industry-standard versions of Autodesk series software and Solidworks are used in engineering graphics classes.

LBCC’s Computer-Aided Design & Drafting Program earns you a two-year degree that prepares you to work as Drafting Technician, Autocad/CAD Technician, Mechanical Designer, Civil Design Technician, and Drafter. The first year of study provides a sound general background, while the second year provides more specific coverage of major occupational areas, such as civil, mechanical, electronic, architectural and technical illustration.
